Adding Additional Properties to Pipe Network Parts.

Recommended Posts

I am having troubles adding additional properties to parts.

I have followed the directions here

http://beingcivil.typepad.com/my_weblog/2010/07/assigning-optional-properties-to-a-part-size.html#more

I edit the XML files, but I get nothing when I go to add the parameter.

The properties I am trying to add are lists for main pipe and secondary pipe. They wouldnt be used for calculations, mostly for labeling.

Anyone know of why this would be?

I'm guessing the trouble happens in step 2. Are you sure you edited the same part catalog file that the program is using? Is it possible, for instance, that the program is using a shared catalog on a network?

Just triple checked that I was using the appropriate Catalog.

I don't do much work with part catalogs, so I'm grasping at straws here.

Are you adding these properties to all parts or only some? Is it possible that you added the new property to a different part family than the one you're adding the parameter to?

The only other possibility I can think of is that your XML code has some kind of syntax error, so the program is rejecting it. That would explain why it's not showing up in Part Builder.

I was going insane yesterday trying to figure it out.

I started up Autocad today and Presto!! It works!!

Maybe I needed to restart everything or something for it to work.

Thanks for the help!

I'd guess all you had to do was reload the catalog.
