hatch boundary detection

Anyone else annoyed by the time spend waiting while acad automatically detects hatch boundary? - usually a boundary of some sort, thats completely useless anyway.

I'm seeking full control and want to select the boundaries myself:x and hope some of you can tell how to switch off or avoid this automatic process of bounday detection that usually follows "h" ↵ ( "hatch" ↵ or "bhatch" ↵ ).

Please help.

When hatching use 'Select object' rather than 'Pick point' - Making sure that what you select is a closed polyline.

If you need to use 'Pick Point', first create a selection set first to limit what AutoCAD is working with, otherwise it will try and analyse the whole drawing - which could take some time

Yes, thats exactly what I want, thanks. But acad automatically starts detecting boundaries right after entering the command and thats what I find so annoying.

If theres a way to avoid this automatic process I would be so happy - and more productive

Try HPQUICKPREVIEW then off. That way AutoCAD won't attempt to hatch everything you put your mouse over.
