wonk Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 How can I update the file path to an XREF which is NESTED? I point the file to the appropriate xref and even though I save the file it won't point back to the file upon opening? Quote
mateen Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 first you change x-ref then it will be automatically change in x-ref dependent file if it does not so check the system variable which is VISRETAIN and set it to 1 it Controls the properties of xref-dependent layers. Controls visibility, color, linetype, lineweight, and plot styles (if PSTYLEPOLICY is set to 0). Quote
RobDraw Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Open the XREF file that is hosting the nested file. Change the path there. Quote
wonk Posted May 2, 2012 Author Posted May 2, 2012 Mateen, thanks. The VISRETAIN was set 1 and I made the PSTYLEPOLICY 0. Still having same problem. Once I select a XREF of an XREF the following error is displayd: Nested Reference Selected: I can't change the Path, Name or Type. Quote
RobDraw Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Open the XREF file that is hosting the nested file. Change the path there. Try this. It will work. Quote
wonk Posted May 2, 2012 Author Posted May 2, 2012 RobDraw- not sure what you mean as I'm fairly new to CAD LT. I got the master file and I've changed the path on every file but the 2nd layer of xrefs doesn't save the "found path" to "saved path"... A1-BLD1FLR1 and the six below it are located in ...\XREF..folder. I can point all seven to the correct file in XREF folder but they won't save the change. I missing something. Quote
RobDraw Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Okay, File-A is XREFd into File-B. File-B is XREFd into File-C (the master). You need to open File-B and change the path to File-A and save changes. Open File-C and you should see your changes. Quote
wonk Posted May 2, 2012 Author Posted May 2, 2012 right govna, that did it. looks like all is well. thanks RobDraw Quote
