Can't install Service Pack 1a for AutoCAD 2004

Many times when I close my AutoCAD 2004 (Version: V.0.86) I get an error message. I'm directed here:

to download a new service pack to presumably fix the problem. I click on the 'unlocked' version since thats what I have, and download it. I run the installer and it says I need an AutoCAD 2004 CD. I can probably find the CD, but am I on the right track? Right now the error doesnt cause any problems...its just kind of an annoying popup. But I figure I should fix it if I can.

I think the older versions of AutoCAD did indeed require that the user insert the installation disk as part of the update process. Hope you hung on to it. No disk = no update.

ReMark is correct. With the legacy versions, a piece of code or physical stamp on the original disk was used to establish authenticity. It was supposed to keep pirating to a minimum because the code or stamp was not transferable to a copied disk. Hopefully you can find the original disk or live with the error message. (or find a money-tree and buy a new version) ;)

P.S. "Where did we leave the wheelbarrow the albino had?"

Yup, I did need the install disk. Once I had that, the service pack installed with no problems and the error has yet to pop up again.

I'm going to keep looking for that money tree though, it sounds like something that could be useful in the future. I'll start by checking over the albino I think.

Maybe we've got one in the stock room...

Glad to hear you have solved your problem and thanks for updating us too.

As for that wheelbarrow full of money don't bother looking. The empty wheelbarrow is in my back yard.
