MSasu Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 What are 3 types of paths that can be used for storing an xref? You can have (1) full path (i.e. C:\\MyDrawings\\CurrentProject\\drawing.DWG") - that means that if you send the drawing to someone, that person should replicate the path at his place; (2) relative path - expressed from current location and (3) no path at all, when the x-referenced file(s) should be located along main drawing or in a preferred folder (see their list in help). when inserting an xref, how does the Overlay option differ from the Attach option? Please check this example. can xref drawings be scaled, rotated, or positioned at any desired location? The answer is yes; all those operations are allowed, either at insertion time or later. Quote
tzframpton Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 Is this a textbook question? What are 3 types of paths that can be used for storing an xref?I don't quite understand this one. Relative and absolute paths are the only option I thought. **EDIT** MSasu got the third one: no path. Never realized this actually. Good one!!when inserting an xref, how does the Overlay option differ from the Attach option? Overlay does not carry over if the host drawing is XREF'd into another drawing. An Attachment will continue to carry over indefinitely if the host drawing is XREF'd into other drawings.can xref drawings be scaled, rotated, or positioned at any desired location?Yes, yes, and yes.
