inTrouble!
How do you convert a read only dwg to a fully functional dwg? I had to force quit AutoCAD when I got the rainbow spinning wheel (on Mac) and now when I reopen, it says it is currently in use and would I like to open the read only version. Meanwhile, I can't save any changes in this version! Am I royally screwed? Is there a way to convert back to normal?? Please help! Thanks! Tcntygrl21
Open as a read only then do a "save as". You will have to change the file name but once you see this worked you can delete the old drawing and rename the new one. Hope this helps. Murph_map
Look for a file with the extension of DWK or DWL with the same name as the drawing(dwg) delete it and see if that helps. Don't know about the MAC versions but that's the Windows OS trick.

This is how I would do it, just takes a minute, always works.
