Dandrage Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Hi All, I'm hoping that someone may be able to offer some advice ... I'm an architect and I'm drawing up a development of 80 houses and I need to provide a Sales Plan which includes the width and length of each rear garden in the development. Rather than show these as actual dimensions on the drawing (which will get messy and make the drawing look untidy due to the large amount of units) I plan to create a simple table with plot number and dimensions. My plan is to dimension the gardens on a non-printable layer and to insert a field into a table to obtain the required dimension. I've done this for the first few houses but I have to insert one field and then select the dimension to get the "m" dimension and then repeat the process in order to get the "ft" dimension. My question is is it possible to insert a field (or two separate fields) that will display the dimension once in m (ie 12.80m) and once in 'architectural dimension style' (ie. 41' - 7 1/4") by only clicking on the dimension once?? This will save a lot of time as this size of development is quite common for me. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thank you. Dan. Quote
bbankston Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Dandrage, I take it you're not talking about using secondary dimensions, right? Quote
Dadgad Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Welcome to the forum. You could define the second field by referencing the first field, and including a conversion factor. Quote
Dandrage Posted August 15, 2012 Author Posted August 15, 2012 (edited) Dadgad - That sounds right! ... So, how would I go about doing that, please? It's OK ... I've managed to work that part out for myself! Thanks very much for the prompt and very useful advice. Edited August 15, 2012 by Dandrage Quote
Dadgad Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Lee Mac has a helpful tool for creating fields, which I've not used yet, but looks good, they always are http://www.lee-mac.com/quickfield.html Thanks Lee! Don't forget to set your FIELDEVAL setting appropriately. I was setting up fields like that to show you, and my Autocad froze up on me, you beat me to it. Good work! Glad you figured it out. Quote
