pedro gonçalves Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Have you tried the Autodesk cloud services? https://360.autodesk.com Quote
pendean Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 You probably need AutoCAD 2013 and that built in ability with autodesk's cloud. R2010 is up for retirement in 4-5 months I believe.Or contact DropBox and pay to upgrade their offerings to do what you seek if available. Quote
samifox Posted October 23, 2012 Author Posted October 23, 2012 upgrading acad is not an option in the near end. why i cant use the cloud asa support source? the 2 machines configured the same and have the same paths? Quote
samifox Posted October 23, 2012 Author Posted October 23, 2012 and abuot 360, i couldnt find there special option to store the same workspaces....???? Quote
pedro gonçalves Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 In Autodesk360 you have to register an account in wich you can store some files in a 3Gb maximum space limit. Then you can change permissions to share those files with groups or another autodesk360 accounts. You just have to search for those options cus they exist, and then you can store the files you need and share them with wherever you wan't. I hope that's what you were looking for Quote
samifox Posted October 23, 2012 Author Posted October 23, 2012 :?but thats what i do with dropbox, i thought there is an option to share workspace!??? Quote
tzframpton Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 I use Dropbox between three computers (1 desktop & 2 laptops). I have no issues, just as long as all the paths are exactly the same on all computers. (eg: C:\Users\\Dropbox\) Quote
samifox Posted October 23, 2012 Author Posted October 23, 2012 right! i didnt notice . i copy the support in the appdata and in program files? is that all? Quote
tzframpton Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 No, that's not all. You will also need to repath all the necessary directories in the Options > Files tab to point to the new location. If you need further help in this critical step then post back. Monkeying with your search paths won't permanently screw things up but can wreck havoc if you are not careful. Quote
43st Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Be sure to read up on the terms of service before using a cloud service (360, Dropbox or other). It will depend on what industry you are in and how you (or your company) view content ownership. If you can encrypt on your end, before uploading or syncing, that may solve the majority of the content ownership and security issues that come up with using a cloud service. Even the Autodesk 360 ToS recommends to use the "latest encryption and other security technology" before uploading. Quote
samifox Posted October 23, 2012 Author Posted October 23, 2012 It really seems that 360 is the way to go. I mess already autocad and had to reset everything. I'll make a list of all the patches and their analogous patch in the cloud service. What is the different between 360 and other cloud servers. Quote
samifox Posted October 23, 2012 Author Posted October 23, 2012 And....what if we don't have Internet connection in the office for the whole day. Is there a way to make alternative path profile.? Quote
tzframpton Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 To be honest, these types of files shouldn't be constantly updating. so if you're down for a day, then you're good. It will auto-sync when a connection is available anyways. Quote
samifox Posted October 23, 2012 Author Posted October 23, 2012 Ok. Is there a way to save those patches in some way? Because if the net is down, acad will get crazy when nothing of its support file is not available Quote
tzframpton Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Oh do you mean patches of time when the net is down? That's really not a good thing you know. But services like DropBox still have the files available when there's no connection. I don't know about 360. But the problem isn't the cloud based sync service... so good luck with going cloud based syncing anyways. Until you get that resolved it might not be of any good use to move in that direction anyways. Quote
pedro gonçalves Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 Autodesk360 will save any change once there is internet connection again and you can actually work on files if you're offline. That's what i use on my office Quote
samifox Posted October 31, 2012 Author Posted October 31, 2012 i set all the paths the cloud service in both pc, everything is working finebut the tool palette (and profiles in option)which is the most important to myworkflow. is there a w3ay to reflect the tool palette and profiles in both pc without exporting and importing al the time? Quote
tzframpton Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Double check everything. It'll work as soon as you get all the path's right. Quote
