KimLester Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 i work for Telecom contractor and we, almost exclusively, have to add our work to others supplied drawings. we do a lot with the military and they use Microstation (dont know version) i dont have any problem with importing or reloading xrefs...my issue is this: i need to somehow 'screen' the background floor plan layout so that our info is more prominent visually. i'm having to deal with MULTIPLE xrefs and blocks in these imported drawings so we are talking 600-1000 or more layers! there must be a way to do this easier and faster that i have not found yet! any help would be appreciated!!! tomhamlet Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 if you are using V85 or V8i then alike layers should merge. You may want to ask a Moderator to move this question to the Microstation forum. Also may need to go into greater detail of what you are doing, if you can. Quote
KimLester Posted November 5, 2012 Author Posted November 5, 2012 not using microstation...using Autocad LT 2011, and importing microstation... Quote
Mike_Taylor Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 We deal with a similar issue on a smaller scale (200 Layers tops). We simply select all of the layers in there drawing and change them to colour 8 (50% screening in our pen styles). We then use the SETBYLAYER commend, hit 'S' for settings and and choose only "Color". Continue through the command and, making sure you include blocks. If blocks are set up correctly and re not nested more than one deep this works like a charm. We are fortunate enough to have solid CAD drawings from most of our clients....for the most part at least Quote
KimLester Posted November 6, 2012 Author Posted November 6, 2012 Thanks, i'll try that this morning...stand by:) Quote
KimLester Posted November 6, 2012 Author Posted November 6, 2012 only worked halfway...some of the blocks are BIM models or something and refuse to change their properties. Quote
