owenstravis33 Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 I am working on a 2-D drawing that will be later cut out with a CNC Plasma cutter. Right now everything is fine and working. The finished drawing is about 3.5' wide and 5' length. I want to cut this same drawing out a 2nd time but have it 1/2 the size. I tried to rescale the image but it doesn't change the dimensions of any of the lines and I don't want to have to redraw it because there is a lot of detail and I am hoping there is a simple fix to my problem. If any of you could help or provide any tips, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Quote
Dadgad Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 Welcome to the forum. Very nice graphic, that will make a real nice sign. Just a guess, you say it doesn't change the size of the lines, but the grid certainly looks smaller. Remember that when you rescaled it, the dimensional units of your grid were also reduced by 50%. Another way to go would be to WBLOCK it, then insert it into a new drawing and scale it by 50% as you insert it. Quote
owenstravis33 Posted November 10, 2012 Author Posted November 10, 2012 Well thanks for replying so quick. The grid looks smaller because it is just a print screen that I copied into paste so that I could produce a visual representation of what I am looking for, those aren't actually two separate .dwgs. With the WBLOCK, which by the way is a great idea, it doesn't give me the option to re-scale the drawing. Quote
Dadgad Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 You can just copy and paste it into another drawing too, then rescale it by 50%. I guess I am not really sure what problem you are having with this. Quote
owenstravis33 Posted November 10, 2012 Author Posted November 10, 2012 I had tried that with the original one and it didn't change anything, with it inserted as a block would it be any different? It gives me an option box that tells me to pick what to transfer and the new file location and then it just saves it in a different file. Upon opening, it doesn't give me any other options, its just there. Quote
ReMark Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 Users have the option of rescaling blocks when they are inserted into a new drawing. Quote
owenstravis33 Posted November 10, 2012 Author Posted November 10, 2012 I figured it out, once I saved it as a new block and opened up the new file, I went to insert, block, and then it gave me some block options that weren't presented when creating the new block. Thanks for your guys' help. Quote

Thanks for your guys' help. Right, you can't scale wile creating it, but you can while inserting. I am curious why the Scale command didn't work. Usually one would simply select the object(s) type or click scale, then simply type .5 and hit enter. Just like that, scaled by half. Quote
SLW210 Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 You could also create a viewport in paperspace with scale of 1/2 and use CHSPACE. It will come into Paperspace at 1/2 Scale. Quote
