Layer plotting

Hi how can I plot a layer which is in model space on one layout and not on another. Is there a feature i'm not using or is there a recommended approach e.g. draw it in paper space or duplicate the base object in model space then have a viewport showing the duplicate. I am trying to find the best practice and not an inefficient one.

Please pay attention that you are allowed to control layer's visibility by viewport; when a viewport is active, please check in layers pop-up list for a feature named Freeze or Thaw in current viewport.

Thanks I understand that now. I had half got there by creating a layer that was frozen in each Viewport, but had not noticed the extra column of freeze/thaw buttons.
