genmech Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Hello Ladies and Gentleman, just taking a poll on what way i should abbreviate a ACU unit. we have a extra one that kicks in should the main fail. would you go with B/U ACU for back up acu or EACU for emergency. i want to make sure when someone looks at the prints its easily identified. I will be changing the abbreviations print to reflect this. Quote
RobDraw Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 I'm assuming that is an air conditioning unit. The term emergency usually refers to back-up power in case of loss of service from the utility company. That would not be the case here, so back-up would be more appropriate. Personally, I would not call it out as such on the plans. That would be covered in the spec or sequence of operation. I might go with something like ACU-1 for the main and ACU-1a for the back-up. rkent Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Depending of the FM software you use you might want to use ACU-2 or ACU-E, etc, so a search for ACU would be sure to turn up all ACUs and a list done alphabetical would also work well. $0.02 Quote
genmech Posted December 3, 2012 Author Posted December 3, 2012 Rkent - I like that idea. we have multipile ACU's in the building so my boss just wanted a way we could call this one out has a back-up and not a regular unit when looking at the drawings. Quote
