Full outline offset of polyline with LISP possible?

Hey there!

Maybe one of you can help me with this, I'va been searching for three days now, but cannot figure out how I can do this. I am sure it should be possible.

I've tested several (multi- or double-) 'offset' routines, but none of them does what i need.

I need to offset (or you can call it outline, or add a boundary) hundreds of polylines, all with the same distance (lets say 25 units) but fully around the original polyline. See for example the image below. If The poliline is closed, it shoud result in 2 offset lines, an inner- and an outer-offset line.

What i need it for? I need to make a shapefile of the 'area' 25 meters (or another variable units like 15 meters) around a certain trace of cables.

Anybody know which lisp to use for this? :geek:

PS, anybody like Acad 2009? I don't! way too slow...

Definitely looks like it. I would suggest going to help and exploring multiline. I can't remember if too many threads exist that discussed this issue.

I am sorry, but multiline is not an option:

1) I have to redraw all of the existing (many hundreds) of very complicated and long polylines

2) With my software i cannot create the correct shapefile of multilines...

anybody else?

t.freriks, its' called buffer and can easily be done with Autodesk Map

Nice to know... but I don't have that.

The multi-offset routines i already tried, but still it would take me a week to close all the ends...

Must be a too big a problem I'm afraid... I don't know enough about lisp to write it myself...

The old autocad about version 12 had a multiline lisp and I am sure it had the option cap

Found it page 23 to be exact and it was called "Dline"

'Dline' doesnt work in Autocad 2007 anymore... :glare:

The script ASMI talked about 'almost' does the job:

But I am afraid my (many) polylines are so complex that this script runs on error all the time. It only works if I 'break' the polylines in many more short ones... (Means lots and lots of work)

And still I would have to 'cap' them manyally... :(

No one got a full working script they are aware off?
