can be done without lisp just with 'qselect' command

As Dipali says, it can be done without LISP, but if it really was LISP you are after:

(defun c:sel ()
(sssetfirst nil (ssget "X" (list (cons 8 (getvar "clayer")))))
   (princ)
) ;_ end defun

To be honest, the "qselect" command is good for filtering through a range of entities and layers, but for speed and convenience - if its only the current layer you would like to select each time - this LISP is much quicker.

Hope this helps

EDIT: Just been browsing the forums and found the Media Encoder posted by Mr T, and thought I'd try it out :P

Great lisp! Thank you. Is a great time saver.
