Hatch opacity in printing

Digging through the questions here, I [thought I] came across an answer to my dilemma...

screening my hatching in the plotting.

So I've opened my ctb plot style table and assigned 40% screening to 3 selected colors that I use for the hatching areas. However; after saving and closing, when I plot, nothing has changed. When I try the sample '50 % screening' ctb plot style, the entire drawing plots at 50 %.

What am I missing?

table settings----

dither: on

grayscale: off

screening: 40 (40 for hatching colors, 100 for the rest)

adaptive: on

pen #: auto

virtual: auto

line join: use object...

lineweight: use object...

linetype: use object...

fill style: use object...

line end style: use object...

thanks for the help in advance!
