kam3
After creating the model with flanges (OAL 6.5") I create a flat pattern that I want to be 7" OAL. However, the flat pattern comes out to be some odd dimension...not sure where I've made the mistake. In my research it appears that this is a more difficult problem than initially thought. Any help is appreciated.
JD Mather
You forgot to attach the file here. When you bend a part the material compresses on the inside of the bend and stretches on the outside of the bend. Inventor calculates bend allowance when forming the flat - just like the real world results. The bend allowance is dependent on material, thickness, bend radius and bend angle and to some extent the process machine. Your professor should have covered this. Zip and attach your file here. kam3
Please find the file attached. While this was covered, I am fairly new to Inventor and at times am having trouble getting it to do what I need. I am self taught, and this forum is the best access to experts of whom I can ask questions (that I know of). Thanks for your help.
