Target
Hi all newbe here. I currently run Autocad 2009. I would like to get 2010 and 2010 LT for another user in the same office. Does anyone know if the Data extraction to an Excel spread sheet works the same way in both 2010 and 2010 LT? I use Data Extraction for Block attribute data and dynamic block data. I did check the FAQ first so sorry if this has been dealt with before
stevsmith
It works fine in 2010 not sure about LT
Target
Thanks. It was the LT that I was hoping to get an answer for. It is such a big price hike to get 2010 if LT does data extraction in the same way. The Autodesk Matrix says that LT will extract attributes to a text filebut it is not clear about how this is done (same wizard as 2010) etc.
ReMark
Try contacting your authorized AutoDesk reseller. He/she should have a definitive answer for you.
lpseifert
Dataextraction isn't available in 2009 LT (see here ) I'm guessing it isn't available in 2010 LT either, although I think it can extract attribute info with Attext (see here )
ReMark
Ah yes, the old ATTEXT command. Yep, that will work in LT as mentioned in the post above. The output will be in the form of an ASCII text file (the file type is TXT). You'll be limited to three formats: Comma Delimited File (CDF), Space Delimited File (SDF) or Drawing Interchange File (DXF). Each particular format determines how the information will be displayed in the text file. Note that you will have to create and use a template file to extract block and attribute data if you select CDF or SDF file formats. You'll also have to specify a file name (i.e. - output file) and location for the extracted attribute data. The default output file takes the form of the drawing name with the txt file type. tzframpton
It's not available in 2010 LT, I just checked..... Best thing would be probably to just get on license of full AutoCAD 2010, and make it a roaming license so multiple people can open it up when they need to run the DATAEXTRACTION tool. It obviously is all relative to your office situation.
