jmatus86
I am in the process of drawing a car but am having trouble with the body as well as the front and rear winshield. The main problem I'm having is manipulating the "sheet metal" to "bend". I have tried using geometric shapes and extruding them. I'm having problems when they are on different planes. I've also tried cutting the desired shapes out of larger segments. Some backround info; - I have drawn the entire car in 3D: frame, wheels, accessories, etc. - Using AutoCad 2005 My questions are: a. is it possible to perform? b. what would be the steps to doing it? c. do I need an updated version of AutoCad and if so, what year would I need? Attached is a sketch of the project I'm working on. Any information would help out a great deal and I appreciate you taking the time to looking at my thread. JD Mather
You might be able to do something with AutoCAD 2010 sub-division mesh modeling. But professionals use Autodesk Alias for something like this. Students can download AutoCAD 2010 and Alias Automotive for free from http://www.autodesk.com/edcommunity You might also check http://labs.autodesk.com/utilities/alias_sketch_for_autocad/ http://au.autodesk.com/?nd=class&session_id=5533
