The symbol for the needle valve is represented by a gate valve crossed in the middle by an arrow head pointed down (see attachment).
Could you please advise if this symbol orientation is valid only for the flow directed to the RIGHT side, or to both directions?
What about the case when the needle valve is shown vertically: the middle arrow needs to be pointed to the right (see attachment)?
Is it incorrect if it is show pointed to the left? Does the vertical direction of flow determine the orientation of the needle valve?

I wasn't aware that a needle valve had to have a specific orientation relative to flow. Now if we were talking about check valves then that would be a different story.
Yes...show the arrow pointing down when the needle vale is in the horizontal position. It should not point up.
