mhuff
I have recently started having a problem opening a file and saving a file as. I can open a file from windows explorer but when I try to open one from the "File - Open" menu AutoCAD locks up. Same thing happens when I try to "Save As". ReMark
AutoCAD 2008. Have you ever installed any updates for the program?
mhuff
No. I have deleted and reinstalled the program and the problem will not go away.
ReMark
Then you should first go to the AutoDesk website find, download and install the last update issued for 2008. Test the program. Come back here and report the results.

JD Mather
Try turning off filedia (set to 0) does it work now (using command line to open or save files rather than dialog box).
mhuff
Yes, that worked.....but surely this is not the fix!
