How do I snap my new line to the edge of another object? A workaround is drawing the line over the object, and snap the point back using intersection snapping. I hope you understand.

right click object snap button at the bottom of the screen - settings

turn on extension, and polar tracking too.

oh and if it helps you can also just use command EX or TR to extend and trim to a line. so for this you'd hit EX, select the diagonal line, enter, select the horizontal line, enter.

or better still - EX, enter twice, then every line you select extends til it hits something. any use?
