Grand Pre
In Copy command, when I select my second point of displacement (15' away) the new object is being placed way off in space, a relative and consistent distance from 0,0, rather than 15' away. This just started after 12 years of no problem copying objects! Obviously I have abused some toggle to start this problem. Any suggestions how to get my copied object back to appearing 15' away, and not off in space?
nestly
What method are you using to specify the 1st and 2nd points? ie Clicks, coordinate entry at the command line, DDE, Dynamic Input? Copy/Paste the copy sequence from the text window if possible.
Grand Pre
Clicks From the command line: Command: c COPY Select objects: 1 found Select objects: Current settings: Copy mode = Multiple Specify base point or [Displacement/mOde] : Specify second point or : Specify second point or [Exit/Undo] : Specify second point or [Exit/Undo] : At this point the object appears 10 miles away, consistantly, not at the second point selected. nestly
Are you working in 2D or 3D?
Grand Pre
Nestly, I am in 2D. I have resolved the glitch, by restarting AutoCAD. When I re-opened the file, the copied objects were showing up in the correct location, not in the previously shown location (in outer space) in the prior drawing session. I wonder if I had simly re-gened the drawing, if they would have shown up correctly? Seems like a display glitch, rather than a selction point problem. Thank you very much for replying to my post. nestly
Glad you got it sorted out. Out of curiosity, was the object you were copying "attached" to your cursor after you selected the basepoint as normal and then went flying off into space after picking the destination? Grand Pre
The new object did not appear attached to my cursor, as it does normally. It graphically did not appear there. After I would click on the second point, it appeared to fly out to space. I would have to zoom to extents to see the image way out there. It seems to be a graphic problem, because when I closed and opened the drawing, the object appeared at the correct point, not in outer space. So it really was connected to my cursor and in reality it was copied in the right location, I just could not see it. But, why did appear in some other place? Graphic processing was apparently not functioning correctly.
