fostertom
Acad 2006 on XPHome. In model space, built several large blocks containing lines etc of various layers, nearly all of them having colour, linetype and lineweight 'By Layer'. Then copied those blocks to new location, exploded them and altered and added. Now suddenly find that, tho all displays properly, every element in model space, both non- blocked elements, the blocks themselves, and elements within the blocks, are now showing in Properties as all on the same single layer, colour 'By Block'. If I close properties, highlight an element and right click for Properties, the Properties panel comes up blank, until I re-click on an element while Properties is open. I've tried Save As, and re-starting Acad.
fostertom
Update - any ideas please? This is affecting every .dwg file I open, so is prob to do with my installation of Acad 2006 itself. Before I repair, or remove and reinstall it, any ideas? To redefine what's happening, what is showing in Properties has nothing to do with the element currently selected, but Properties follows whatever layer is set as current in the Layers box - and in Properties the layer is 'By Block'. dbroada
Registry cleaners have beeen known to kill the properties palette. Has one been used on your machine recently?
fostertom
Ah - yes I think so, inadvertenty when I clicked a wrong download button. Thanks
dbroada
they normally stop the properties palette from displaying anything - your symptoms were different but could still have been caused the same way. At least you are sorted now.
