CIVIL 3D and LiDAR Data: Beginner needs help

Hello forum,

Recently I have started using Civil 3D for producing contours of existing site layouts. I've been given a massive LiDAR data file and various points that have been collected using GPS Systems.

I've imported all the points I need, and deleted out LiDAR points which I know won't be the existing surface (ie, rooftops and trucks) but there's still a lot more.

I went into surface properties, and it tells me the maximum slope/grade is 400+% which is ridiculous. So my questions are;

1) Is there a way to set a tolerance for points to remove outliers to I get a smoother contour surface?

2) What's the best way to override the existing LiDAR surface with the GPS points I have been given (when it seems to be incorrect)? Should I create a new surface for the GPS coordinates or add them to the LiDAR surface?

Thanks in advance,
