3D massprop Issue...

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone. I've had this problem for a few days and i can't find a fix anywhere. I'm sure its something stupid that I'm looking right over.

I have a 3d model that I am trying to find the volume of, but when I go to use massprop, it finds 69 objects, and gives me "no solids or regions selected". I've tried converting the object into a single block, which made no difference.

I can't seem to upload the .dwg either... If someone could tell be how, I'd upload it to show you all

There are size restrictions to what one can upload as a DWG file.

For MassProp to work your object has to be a solid. Can't use MassProp on a block.

its 1.21 mb, is that too large?

I just drew my cross-section (closed shape), and revolved it- that's all. Is it not a 3d solid now?

Maybe it was a solid but AutoCAD didn't like something (maybe a piece of stray 2D geometry) otherwise you would not have received the message.

Welcome to the forum. :)

The unit displayed by the program will depend on your -DWGUNITS setting.

Type -DWGUNITS at the commandline, include the hyphen, and your current

DWG database units will be displayed, as in the image, which informs me that

the drawing units in my current drawing are mms, so the MASSPROP command will return

measurements expressed in mm units, either squared or cubed.
