Start a line from the section of the line

Hi guys first time to post. I am trying to do a drawing but there's a function I forget and would like some help. I want to start a line from a section of another line. I kinda have some idea I followed the text book before there's a command which can help you to do something to skip a distance from a start point of a line to the position you want. Does anybody know the command. Will be appreciated!

As you can see if I just create a line using polyline command I will get a double line work in my drawings which I want to avoid. I am sure there's a command that can make you start from the coorindation you want in relation to the start point of another line. Gotta practise autocad everyday from now on !

Thanks, eldon. I just learned smth. I had not realized that ‘FROm’ is an OSNAP option, even though it’s available in my right-click menu (actually Shift-rt click for me). The way I would most likely use it would be to select the basepoint then enter smth like @24
