Lentezza
Hello, it´s me again... I have the following situation to resolve: I am in the process of drawing a corner bench which later on I will produce from solid wood. The backrests of the bench are simple boards. Now I came to the point where I need to trim these boards to make them form the corners. To be able to gain the right angles and measures I am drawing the hole thing in 3d (and also for presenting it to my customers). Here is a profile drawing from the bench construction to make it a bit easier to understand: I extracted two of the intersecting boards from my drawing, as seen in the following drawing: I made a simple sketch to demonstrate the result I want to achieve. Pleas let me know wether I have been clear about my request. Greetings Len
Lentezza
I think the above is to vague to be understandable.... Here is the full drawing: Bench full.dwg
JD Mather
How are you attempting to do attachments here (Go Advanced)?
ReMark
I would have swept or extrude the profile of one of the simple backrest boards along a path defining the center line of the entire back of the bench including the angled portion. Lentezza
@ JD Oops something went wrong.. I did it the way you propose initially but then had to shut down my computer and copy-pasted the text including the attachments... I tried if I could still open them. It worked but probably does so only on my computer...?
JD Mather
Slice with Surface http://home.pct.edu/~jmather/content/CAD238/AutoCAD%202007%20Tutorial%208.pdf
ReMark
One bench back rail. So slicing no dicing.
Lentezza
Beautiful! I had thought there must be a simple solution to that! Thank you!
Lentezza
Now I am only wondering whether there will be a difference between the results of this two methods when it comes to extracting values...??
JD Mather
Examine the solutions carefully - there are two different joints - a lap joint in one and a miter joint in the other. You need to decide.
Lentezza
Doing the sweep method I automatically got the mither joint - the one I wanted. Thanx JD Here´s the next one ;-) For the corner peace of the seating surface I´d like to apply the sweeping and slicing. To make it as simple as possible I´d like to use the green extruded part for slicing the swept part of the seating surface (brown). But I don´t know how.... With the SLICE command I can´t choose such an object as the slicing one...
