Daniel_MTE
Hello, this is my first time posting here so here's some background info: I recently started working in AutoCAD LT 2014 - before that I was using AutoCAD 2006-2009 (most recently used a lot of 2008). I'm working for a company doing inspections of constructions. Usually we visually position damages on CAD drawings. Anyway, to the question: I want to use multiple viewports within the same layout, and I want to use the same model for all of them. In this case I want to have one close-up viewport and one viewport that clarifies the physical location (ie. a pretty zoomed out viewport). My question is; can I layer one viewport to be placed in front of the other(s) when I plot the drawing? Previously we have worked around this by creating several "copies" within the model ie. one clean plane for "Zoomed out" viewport. However this feels like a pretty clumsy solution, and it takes some time. Appreciate any input!
Daniel_MTE
In essence, I'm looking for a "background mask" (an option for MTEXT) but for viewports instead..
Tiger
There is no problem to have one viewport over the other, but as you have probably seen, they two blend, they don't mask out one another. I think you can use a WIPEOUT to accomplish this, but I would use the VPCLIP command to clip the larger viewport to go around the smaller one. Daniel_MTE
Yes of course I could just draw the zoomed in viewport around the smaller zoomed out one... That's good for now! I wish there would be a "masking" option for viewports though, would be pretty damn convenient, at least for me. Thank you!
BIGAL
If the viewports are square then think about creating a viewport that is a keyhole but with the border on a non plottable layer using polygon option.
