Default Center snap in sketch mode to a different part in an assembly

I am working on this assembly where I need to align a circle on the gold colored part with the grey rod in a different part.
I can not figure out how to get the circle I am drawing to snap to the grey rod in the other part in the assembly.
Can someone tell me what to do to get snaps between parts in assemblies while in sketch mode?
    Thanks, Rob

I solved it on my own by using project geometry.
