ReMark
Why is the drawing file so large? What did you draw? Are there a lot of hatch patterns? Did you explode something you shouldn't have? Are there a large number of linetypes? Have you done a -Purge and an Audit?
rkmcswain
That is like saying "I want my car to go faster".... There could be a thousand reasons why your file is "large". Can you upload it to dropbox or something where someone here can take a look. Otherwise we are all just guessing.
RobDraw
There are several threads here about "cleaning up" drawings. You could do a search and start with some of those techniques. If you can't get it small enough, it might (untested) help to XREF it into another file just for viewing purposes.
raymondwong
Yes I have a dropbox but how to share with you guys

ReMark
I think one of your problems may be attributed to the number of linetypes in the drawing. What is the source of the drawing? I managed to get the file size down to 826KB (compared to your 12.7MB file that I downloaded). Is that good enough for you? ReMark
Now if only I can get rid of these four linetypes. You have a number of unreconciled layers in the drawing too.
RobDraw
Unreconciled layers come from XREFs. It just means the properties of them need to be looked at to make sure they are correct. Just reconcile them. Edited December 16, 2014 by RobDraw
raymondwong
yes remark it good enough but how did you do that?
ReMark
I used the following commands... 1. WBLOCK 2. OVERKILL 3. -PURGE (Regapps first; repeat and purge ALL) Save your drawing. Done.
SLW210
AutoCAD LT will not have OVERKILL, it is an Express Tool (LISP).
ReMark
AutoCAD LT will not have OVERKILL, it is an Express Tool (LISP). It's listed in the product review for LT 2014. Actually both NCOPY and OVERKILL were migrated over to LT in the 2012 version. Reviewed here under the heading THE GOOD STUFF. http://ltisacad.blogspot.com/2011/03/autocad-lt-2012-is-here-what-you-need.html
rkmcswain
AutoCAD LT will not have OVERKILL, it is an Express Tool (LISP). Only pre AutoCAD LT 2012. It was rolled into the core application, including LT for the 2012 verison. http://ltunlimited.typepad.com/my_weblog/2011/03/no-longer-express-tools-overkill-ncopy.html
SLW210
Well that's interesting. Good they have migrated a few things over at least.

ReMark
I bet that other 5MB file could use the same treatment. You never did say where you got the drawing from in the first place.
