GemmaEBaird
Afternoon Is there such a thing as a block library like in sketchup - just something with generic 3D trees / chairs / people ?? Thank you in advance.
nestly
"Explore Sample Drawings" on the NewTab. The blocks are stored within the sample drawings and IMO are best accessed through Design Center (type DC at the command line then navigate to the location of the sample drawings)
GemmaEBaird
Thank you - which sample drawing would you recommend for 3d basics ?
nestly
Whoops... I missed the "3D" part I don't think AutoCAD includes any 3D blocks, and doesn't even offer a decent library online.
GemmaEBaird
Any ide where I could get some free ones?
Cad64
If you have the pro version of sketchup you can export sketchup models to dwg format to use in Autocad. Or you can use the Sketchup Import app which is available at the app store. It's free and it will let you import Sketchup models directly into Autocad: https://apps.exchange.autodesk.com/ACD/en/Detail/Index?id=appstore.exchange.autodesk.com%3Asketchupimportforautocad2014%3Aen

BIGAL
There is a lot of stuff out there you just have to look for it unfortunatley, some is free some at a price. Just google 1 item at a time "3d trees Autocad free"
JamCAD
I would suggest you google 'free 3d AutoCAD blocks'. Or you could head straight to http://www.turbosquid.com they have the largest quality 3d block library, both free and paid, that I know of. Just keep in mind that they are not all in the AutoCAD dwg format, you could however convert most of the other formats into dwg. Just be aware some free blocks may have copyright conditions that prevent commercial use, make sure you respect any copyright requirements. JamCAD
Here's what I came up with after less than 5 minutes searching on google. http://www.bibliocad.com/library/trees-and-plants/trees--3d/1 http://www.cadblocksfree.com/index.php?id=122 http://www.bibliocad.com/library/people/3d/1 http://www.cadforum.cz/catalog_en/?cat=14 http://www.hermanmiller.com.au/design-resources/3d-models-revit/3d-models-by-product/seating/performance-work-chairs.html
Cad64
And remember, models don't have to be in .dwg format only. AutoCAD can import a variety of different formats. Just run the IMPORT command and check out the "Files of Type" list.
