microstation to autocad

Recommended Posts

i have just been given some architects drawings that have been done in microstation and converted to autocad.

trying to make xrefs from them has become a nightmare.

3063 layers in the drawing. thousands of blocks, i have spent hours trying to delete layers, purge, overkill rtc

i finally been able to get a drawing that will work ok, has any ideas how i can speed up this process in the beginning?

If you know anyone running 2015, it will clean out the DGN linetypes and other orphaned data automagically upon opening a drawing.

You could download the 2016 version of TrueView (which is free from Autodesk), I am not sure, but that may do it too, when you open the problematic files.

Or you could download the 30 day trial of 2016 from Autodesk, and use that.

2015 even LT has the purge orphaned as an option. Used it yesterday removed say 50 linetypes. Downloaded from Autodesk the dgn hotfix for 2013 but it just gave errors on loading.

Comment 2 re DGN Hotfix 2013 2014 downloaded again and it started running then crashed again. Time to call in that favour again and use LT 2015 to remove the legacy DGN linetypes. The dwg which I did not start has continuous errors and I think its linked to the DGN linetypes.
