squareknees
I hope I am in the right place to post this question. I am auditing a few dynamic blocks that I got online. they have layers associated with them that I want to get rid of. the problem that I am running into is that they are listed out as to the size of the item. is there any way to get rid of the layers that are associated to a look up in a dynamic block? Dana W
Open one of the drawings, open a block in the block editor. Select and move all objects to the layer of choice, preferably layer 0 (zero) because every drawing has that one already. Reset ALL the object properties to By Layer. Close the block editor, and save the block changes. Now run PURGE to get rid of the empty layers. Or maybe -PURGE (with the dash) to really make sure empty things are gone. If you run -PURGE, start with RegApps, then -PURGE,. When it asks you to give it names, tell it *. When it asks you to confirm each item, or object, or name, or something, tell it NO, or you will be hitting enter all week. Once you have the block(s) drawings naked enough, they will not bring any dirty laundry into other drawings. Some may need further layer adjustment when they get to other drawings depending on what you want. If any of the blocks have other blocks nested inside of them, the nested blocks will also have to be massaged the same way. Any block with nested blocks in it will not be "cleaned up" until you've drilled down to the deepest nested one and cleaned it. Each time you edit a nested block, the block editor for the one it is nested in has to be saved and closed before it will open. This can get very tiresome for super complicated ones. You can also go for the blocks inside it individually. For example, if you have a BATHROOM block, it may have SINK, TUB, SHOWER, and STINKER nested inside it. Clean up SINK, TUB, etc. first. iconeo
Always helps to post what your working with... Are you saying that there are lookup tables within the block that reference hard coded layers? Never thought of that technique. Didn't think it was possible. If this isn't the case I would open the drawing with the block. Set my layer to 0. Unlock all my layers. Then just use laymrg and merge everything to layer 0. Cheers.
