tzframpton
There are two types of columns in Revit and they behave differently: Architectural and Structural Columns. Architectural columns will merge with walls, and structural columns won't. See example here: http://i.imgur.com/GVz81yP.png Hope this helps. -TZ

tzframpton
At the time of the alert, there should be a Yes/No option to load them. But you can load Families at any time from the ribbon under Insert > Load Family. You can also Drag/Drop Families in from Windows Explorer. The default installation directory of Families are usually found here: C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\RVT <YYYY>\Libraries\US Imperialmperial
tzframpton
Also, have you thought about picking up a book for the basics? These few questions you have had are the absolute bare fundamentals. A read through a good basics book would get you humming along in no time. -TZ
