Terosu Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 Hi, I want to create an mline style to indicate thermal insulation on a pipeline to use in P&ID design, as per below: What would be the best way to go about this? I know I can manually explode the mline and join as polyline and then hatch or come up with a lisp to do this but I really need to be able to draw the desired pattern without jumping through any extra hoops, as in picking a predefined mline style and just drawing away. Thanks in advance for any ideas Quote
ReMark Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 Overkill don't you think? I'd use a symbol that can be placed on the line at various intervals. Less distracting. Quote
Terosu Posted February 14, 2017 Author Posted February 14, 2017 Hi, I would like that style because it is as per ISO 14617 and also because I think it's pretty self-explanatory and in that sense good for a piping diagram but I can't really figure out a good way to do it. If it proves too difficult I will just come up with a distinct mline style and use that but in my mind it shouldn't be impossible to come up with something like this. Quote
ReMark Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 So the standard you are referencing explicitly states that the entire line from beginning to end that is going to be insulated be identified in such a manner and a symbol on each line segment that makes up the pipe is not an acceptable alternative? Terosu Posted February 14, 2017 Author Posted February 14, 2017 Sure, why not but it's better to get it done in one step instead of first drawing the line, then dropping symbols over the line manually. Also makes making changes to the drawing more simple by having only one element that needs to be changed. Quote
ReMark Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 OK. I'll be interested in what you come up with. Please share a drawing when you have accomplished the task. Good luck. Oh, BTW...symbols (i.e. - blocks) can be spaced along a line and spaced a couple of different ways using either the Measure or Divide commands. Quote
Terosu Posted February 14, 2017 Author Posted February 14, 2017 Didn't think of that, food for thought - thanks. Regardless, any ideas to the original question are still welcomed. Quote
BIGAL Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 Look into a linetype using "/" maybe. *FENCE,Fence ----------/----------/----------/---------- A,20,-1.5,["/",STANDARD,S=1.8,R=0.0,X=-.9,Y=-.9],1 Quote
