Draw line on angles

OK I NEED TO DRAW A LINE FROM A POINT THATS TRAVELS 80MM ALONG X AND IT INCREASES WITH A ANGLE OF 5DEGS.

nOW LOOKING AT IT IT LOOKS FINE TO MY UNTRAINED EYE, BUT HALFWAY THRU DRAWING THIS IMAGE OF A VAN, I REALISED MY SIZES WHERE OUT, NOW I ACTUALLY WANTED TO HAVE MY MEASURMENT OF 80MM ALONG THE X AXES NOT HEADING OFF ALONG THE DIAGONAL IS THERE ANOTHER WAY TO TELL IT THAT I WANT THAT LINE ALONG THAT ANGLE BUT TO TAKE ITS MEASURMENT OFF THE X AXIS ONLY NOT ALONG THE LINE ITS TRAVELLING.

there probably is but I just put a vertical XLINE through the stating point, move that 80

If you need a lot of lines at various angles you can also twist the UCS as you go.

You would need to do a bit of geometry, develop the triangle.

You could fudge a bit. Take a peek-a-boo at the attached *.dwg file.

You can see drawing an 80 unit line, @80

There would certainly be a lot of accumulated errors.

Sorry Cad64, this was at first Luke's drawing which I edited.

I never use the % sign naming any drawing.

On my laptop, AutoCAD '05, I couldn't open your drawings, oh, my.

Was 23°F here in Eastern Pennsylvania today. Yuk!

Thanks tankman for the .dwg , thats the way i ended up doing it but wasnt sure if there was another easier way.

Sorry about the SHOUTING people, i didnt reliase capslock was on until the very end and being 11:30 at night when i wrote it i didnt feel like retyping the whole thing.

XLINE is a good, but it seems, little known command.

You want a 5deg angle, use

XLINE

A (for angle)

5

that will put a 5 degree construction line on your drawing.

Other XLINE options are-

H (horizontal)

V (vertical)

O (offset by a distance you specify)

T (tangental to a radius)

etc., take a look at the HELP for all the options.
