Hello everyone,

I have come across a bit of a problem. I want to create a boat hull from a 2D set of drawings but I have only 3 views: The side of the hull, the top and the back. This boat has no front view because it ends on a point. I figure I could do an EDGESURF and be done with it, right? Well, you need 4 edges in order to do that. The solution I came up with was to create an arc at this ending point, make it very small and do my EDGESURF. It worked, but I'm not 100% satisfied because I want to do it right!!

I know Solidworks does it, but I want to do it in AutoCAD.

I have uploaded the file so you can see what I am talking about. I'm using AutoCAD 2007

Any ideas??

Thanks...

U can divide one of the objects into 2 parts to equal 4 pieces for edgesurf to work. It doesn't have to be small either. A lot of people do it that way.

U can of course use the newer commands like LOFT and use Guide option.

Could you show me please?? I don't get it...

If you are using AutoCAD 2007 or later I would forget edgesurf and similar surfacing tools. The new surfacing tools in 2007 are much better and more useful.

@rgarjr: Yeah... I have AutoCAD 2007, I can't open the file you posted...

@JD Mather: How would you do this?? I tried every single tool I found, but I couldn't do it... Would you mind showing me??

Hey guys,

I figured it out by thinking a little about what rgarjr said... I guess it didn't register correctly the first time...

Thanks all!!!
