Howellsy Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Hello all, first time poster in need of assistance. i'm hoping you guys might be able to help an issue i have. I've recently had Win7 Enterprise installed on my machine with AutoCAD LT 2010. I've a problem which occures when i try to resize any dialogue box. Layers, Xrefs etc. i select either corner (when the arrow appears) to enlarge the size and my machine freezes. Cannot enter into anything and have to hard reset. i've downloaded update 2 for LT and in the process of trying the latest Nvidia drivers for my graphics card. System Spec: Dell T3400 Intel E6750 4gb Ram Win7 32bit Enterprise Nvidia Quadro FX 1700 my IT dept are unsure what the issue could be so i'm hoping someone here might be able to help. cheers Howellsy Quote
ReMark Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 You have no problems with any other programs loaded on this computer? Then perhaps it's just a bad install. You could try the Repair option. Do not uninstall and reinstall before trying Repair. Quote
ReMark Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Repair AutoCAD Click on the Windows Start button. Open the Control Panel. Select Add or Remove Programs. Windows will list all programs loaded. Scroll down the list until you find your version of AutoCAD. Click on the Change/Remove button. Setup initialization begins. At the next screen you should be presented with three options: -Add or Remove Features -Repair or Reinstall -Uninstall Select the Repair or Reinstall option and follow the on-screen prompts. Have your installation media (CD or DVD) nearby in case you are prompted to insert it. Quote
Howellsy Posted September 1, 2010 Author Posted September 1, 2010 thanks i shall try this and report back. every other programme seems fine. Quote
Howellsy Posted September 1, 2010 Author Posted September 1, 2010 it seems to be sat at "computing space requirements" for quite a while. is this normal? ignore. just me being impatient Quote
Howellsy Posted September 1, 2010 Author Posted September 1, 2010 a big THANK YOU for this. it has worked. the instal repaired and it doesn't happen now. i'm going to stick this forum/website in my favourites. Quote
ReMark Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Patience is a virtue. That was fast. Let's not be too quick to claim success. Give it a day and see if the problem resurfaces. Quote
Howellsy Posted September 1, 2010 Author Posted September 1, 2010 it went through pretty quickly. now having issues with Nvidia drivers. my Quadro FX isn't being recognised by any driver instalations. it just loops round saying "new device found, restart to instal drivers". i was on driver package 190.38 before so trying to get that back and installed once IT can find the driver on their system. ReMark Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 I hesitate to ask but why did you change the drivers in the first place? Was it because you thought it was the root cause of your problem? Quote
Howellsy Posted September 1, 2010 Author Posted September 1, 2010 IT believed it was a driver issue and not a cad issue. now the Nvidia drivers wont recognise my graphics card. Even the latest 259 set of drivers!. Quote
ReMark Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Your "old" driver (ver 190.38 ) can be found at the nVidia website under the heading of "Beta and Archived Drivers". To save you the trouble here is a link to the page where you can download the file. http://www.nvidia.com/object/Quadro_win7_winvista_32bit_190.38_whql.html Quote
Howellsy Posted September 1, 2010 Author Posted September 1, 2010 cheers Mark. have downloaded that and will wait for IT to run it. Quote
