Bill Tillman Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 I just closed the deal on a project which the GC tells us will be done totally in BIM. I have only an elementary understanding of the BIM process but agreed with them that we could do it. Our detailer tells me "No sweat" and he can do it in AutoCAD 2010. He said he does not need Revit to do this. I don't have the straight scoop from the architect's office yet on what they are really asking for, dwg's or Revit files or what format. But the first question that I need help with is can a drawing be done in AutoCAD 2010 that will conform with the BIM process or is my detailer blowing smoke up my backside? Quote
Slaraffenmann Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 I think you should go for Revit. Do you have to produce ifc-files? Quote
RobDraw Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 http://forums.cadalyst.com/showthread.php?t=5788 (Read the last post...) http://www.sparling.com/SparAdmin/arts/AUGI%20AECEDGE%202010%20Winter.pdf (... and this.) Also, check the similar threads at the bottom of this page. The company I work for is making a very slow transition to Revit. Aside from the steep learning curve, the complaint I hear most often is a lack of content (families). Quote
