Resize 'Move or copy" layout tab dialog box (AutoCAD 2011)

In a typical drawing I usually have a lot of layout tabs (100+) for our fabrication and installation drawings.

Is it possible to enlarge the Move or copy dialog box? Almost any other dialog box but this one is resizeable in AutoCAD. This has been bugging me from when layouts were first introduced (R2000?) and I think I am not the only one.

If that's not possible. Are there better ways/programs to manage the layout tabs when you have more tabs than you can fit on your screen? Even a tool to stack more rows of tabs above each other instead of having them all on one line which requires a lot of scrolling with the arrow buttons would help me out.

Thanks!

Sounds to me like you should break one of your drawings up into multiple dwg's, and create a sheet set to print your layouts easily.

I have looked in to that but the drawings are not very suitable for breaking them up into multiple drawings of Xrefs. My colleagues (little to no CAD experience) need to be able to look things up in the drawing so I need to keep things simple for them... :?

Also, I add a lot of new layouts quite frequently along the project's duration. So I will need to create new sheet sets every time I make a new Layout. The moment I add my last layout will be at the end of the project.

How does having 100+ layouts in one drawing keep things simple? Judging by your question it doesn't.

Maybe TabSort.lsp ~ Copyright © by Lee McDonnell will help you-(can't find it... Lee help!!!!)

Tabsort. That sounds like it could do what I want...

You kind of have a point there, but prior to my arrival this company only worked in paperspace. I make the layouts for myself to make plotting take less time. They used to plot every drawing manually every time, now it's a single command.

If I use sheetsets, I still need to make layouts for every drawing or am I wrong?

I tried Tabsort and it is a nice improvement!

Unfortunately, this window cannot be resized either...

If I was the only one deciding how to use AutoCAD a lot of things would be different, but my colleagues need to be able to look into the drawings and everything needs to be in the same file. If it was for me, we wouldn't even be using AutoCAD at all!

We have well over 200 process piping and instrumentation diagrams. Many of the processes are inter-related. I've trained the engineers in how to use a CAD file viewer to open, view and print multiple drawings. I'd guess your colleagues are just as capable, right?

They are capable enough, but a bit old fashioned when it comes to drawings...

Just remind them it is the 21st century and not the 20th. A shift in coporate "culture" is always going to occur at a snail pace unfortunately. By making it easier on them it makes your life more difficult.

My predecessor drew his drawings scaled in paperspace and they were made out of separate lines... I already took them into the 21st century just by plotting to dwf and by using paperspace, dynamic blocks and polylines...

 :? He created his drawings in paper space?!?!? Oh the humanity!

What's the point of using Autocad if you're going to misuse it like that? He may as well have been drawing by hand with pencil and paper, and the company could have saved $4,000 on the cost of the software.

It sounds like you've really got your work cut out for you, educating them on the proper use of the program.

Maybe we will even convert to a 3d BIM module specially madefoor roofing and facades... Then they'll have to learn working with layouts...
