pvd Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 Hi all, is it possible to rename blocks? I need to copy a block from one drawing to another. But in my destination-drawing there is already a (different) block with the same name so it's impossible to copy. The problem is, I need both these blocks (so purge is not an option) and there are lots of them (so in my source-drawing exploding and remaking the specific block is not an interesting way to go either cause then I need to redo them all). Anybody? Thank you in advance Quote
danellis Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 One of the express tools does this. It's either REPLACEBLOCK or BLOCKREPLACE - I can never remember and am away from AutoCAD right now to check. dJE Quote
Ryder76 Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 Go into the block editor and save the block to a different name. It will be in your drawing block list and you will need to insert it into your original drawing. Then Wblock out the 'new' renamed block to your hard drive or server wherever you save blocks. then you have a new block that can be used in the other drawing. Quote
pvd Posted January 11, 2011 Author Posted January 11, 2011 Problem solved! I saved the block to another name and then I replaced it with the Express-tool. That way all my blocks in my original drawing change names and I could copy it into my new drawing. Thanks guys! Quote
pvd Posted January 11, 2011 Author Posted January 11, 2011 "Rename" works even faster, waw! Thanks again! Quote
