Timothyl
Hi all, I'm new to the forum and excited to find it. I'm also fairly new to AutoCAD (running AutoCADLT2011). I'm doing a drawing of a front door system which will have antique stained glass in it. I want to present the drawing with some semblance of how the glass will look in it. Is there a way I can import an image of the stained glass- even to just "trace" over it? Tim
CyberAngel
While I don't use LT, I did a little digging and found out that it does let you put images into drawings. One way is as an external reference, the other is as an OLE object. Both methods give you a link to the image file, they don't actually import it. If you have an Insert menu/button, there should be options for both. Welcome to the forum!
Timothyl
I'll do some experimenting with that. After I made my post I decided to just try cutting and pasting a jpeg into a autoCAD drawing and was surprised that it worked- even though it came in as a huge image compared to the drawing. I'm not sure if that's the optimal way to do it. Thanks so much for the input! Tim
premph
First create a jpeg of just the glass so that the edge of the image is the edge of the glass in the door. Then on the autocad command line type image. Click attach then address the jpeg. remember to save the path! you can scale, copy, drag, move, rotate, mirror and cut this object by clicking on its extreme edges to select it. Use draw order to place it behind the rest of your cad drawing. Good luck Premph
Timothyl
Premph- thanks so much. That works great!
ccowgill
I'd recommend attaching it, I think that attached images are much easier to work with than OLE objects, but that's just my opinion.
