kariserna
I was thinking at first to buy GTX 580. Reading around I found out that GTX are not good for SW (DirectX vs OpenGL). Basically I need to handle STEP files over 200MB. Probably even 2 or 3 in one assembly. Do not need any renderings. I'm thinking is it going to be enough Quadro FX 1800, maybe FX 3800? What is the difference between Quadro and Quadro FX? Thank you
ReMark
I believe the FX series is geared more towards the architectural rendering side of performance.

shift1313
I use both a quadro 4000 and 5000. I really like both. For the money the 4000 is better. You can get a 4000 for around $700 now. http://www.nvidia.com/content/PDF/product-comparison/Product_Comparison_2000D.pdf There is a lot of support for the 4000 and i think for a solidworks application its probably a better choice.
