When using PDFATTACH command I'm able to manipulate the PDF underlay but my workstation performance slows down to an unaccptable level and often locks up cuasing me to lose work.

I'm using the overlay to overlay piping systems design.

Size of PDf is less than 1MB

Workstation is used primarily for 3d modeling and works very fast in that area so 2D overlay should not act like this.

This happens no matter what scale I set on the attachment.

I put the PDF on it's own layer to allow toggling on/off

Locking layer or not makes no diference.

Plotted drawings with overlay look fine, it's just the perfomance that is a problem.

Can anyone help?

PDF's for some reason bring a huge performance hit when attached to a drawing. I do not know why other than it's a true statement. That's why I always convert to a 2-Bit TIFF file (aka monochrome TIFF).

Here is a link to an online converter that works great for small batches. A drawback that could be minor, or major, is if you utilize Vectorized PDF for the PDFOSNAP tools, you will lose this functionality obviously. Hope this helps.

Thank you Sir,

I'll try this. I believe there is a function in Adobe Pro that allows some sort of conversion to TIFF but I'm not familiar with the 2bit term. I'll let you know if it works.

I saved the PDF as a Tiff using Adobe Pro, not sure if it was a monochrome version but whateever it was it worked. I used IMAGEATTACH and the perfrmance is as fast as normal.

Thanks again from what appears to be fellow pipefitter type.
