Where are the surface commands?

I hear i can use surfaces, but i don't see any command that enables me to make such. nor in the sketch, nor in the part environments, and also not on the Insert pull down menu/

There are the stitch, extend and trim surface commands, but how do i make a surface?

In Inventor you use the same tools to create surfaces that you use to create solids - just set the output to surfaces.
