viewport layer

Good Afternoon.

I am having trouble plotting from a layout. I think I am following the proper procedure, but it was also plotting the viewport border. I did some searching around and the most popular answer was to freeze the viewport layer. Well, I don't seem to have one in my Layer properties manager.

Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong? Thanks.

There isn't a viewport layer automatically. Best thing to do is create a new layer, name it 'viewports' then create your viewports on this layer. When plotting either freeze the layer or set it to not print

Old school trick is put that viewport layer in DEFPOINTS layer which is automatically set not to print.

Don't have the article with me but it named about 3 or 4 good reasons NOT to place viewports in the DEFPOINTS layer. The best practice would be to create a new layer, set it to non-printing and place all your viewports in there. You can name this layer anything you want but most of us usually create a VIEWPORTS layer and use it strictly for viewports.

yes Bill, i know...that is why i said its an "Old school" basic trick.
