mirazarafat Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 Hy guys, I am trying to make a 3d model in autocad. But I have stuck in a problem. When I fillet the surface then I can not trim the extra portion. Please gibe me a suggestion with this. I am attaching the dwg file. I use autocad 2012. ReMark Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 (edited) Are we talking about trimming back the four curved surfaces where they intersect with an adjacent surface? What is the object supposed to be? Looks like it would be a real pain to fabricate. Edited February 19, 2013 by ReMark Quote
SLW210 Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 Your fillet do not meet the curved portions of the other walls. I don't believe fillet is the proper command, try _SURFTRIM. Quote

But the surface trim option does not work here. When I try that option then the curved surface takes a weird shape, I tried the edge fillet option though. But then I face another problem. I can not get my desired radius. I dont know what should I do. Quote
SEANT Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 The Trim/Fillet operation may be more easily achieved with a Solid. Extrude the poly, Fillet the edges and, if surfaces are needed, Explode. Trim problemViaSolid.dwg Quote

I explained in post #3, the fillet edges do not meet the curvature, redo without the fillet and use _SURFTRIM, trim one and then the other using one then the other as a cutting edge. SEANT, Your drawing file looks the same as the original. Quote
JD Mather Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 .... I dont know what should I do. Why are you modeling as surfaces rather than as solid? If you are going to model as surfaces (maybe you intend to Thicken after trimming?) I would do the four sides as individual surfaces rather than as one extrude. Another technique might be to model as solid, explode to surfaces and then Thicken the individual sides. Quote
