danielk Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 im trying to create projections of the 3D model with the VIEWBASE command, is it possible to assign it to part of the model? thanks Quote
ReMark Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 What do you mean by "part of the model"? Do you require a section? Have you tried the Select option (not sure if it is available in the 2011 version of AutoCAD)? Here is what you're asked next if you do use this option: Select objects to add or [Remove/Entire model/LAYout] : The 3D models have to be separate objects though. Quote
ReMark Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Maybe the OP upgraded and forgot to change his profile. 2012 gave us eight standard view projections: four orthographic and four isometric. 2013 added multiple sections options (four I think) plus a detail option. Quote

ReMark Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Well if you had a version of AutoCAD that actually included the Base View (View Base) command then the SELECT option of the command is what you would want to use. Quote

ReMark Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 There sure is. Did you look at my profile? Did you notice that I am using AutoCAD 2013? Do you think I just made up the following line that was part of my response in post #2? Select objects to add or [Remove/Entire model/LAYout] : Quote

Select objects to add or [Remove/Entire model/LAYout] : my mistake, its autocad 2012 , its another station so i never had my attention . the option to add is not availbale in the 2012 ? Quote
ReMark Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 (edited) I would have to check. Give me a moment. I'll be back. The options in 2012 include.... Select option [Representation/Orientation/STyle/SCale/Visibility/Move/eXit] : Does not appear to be an option to add or remove objects. There may be a way around this but I would have to run a small test first. Test failed. I thought you could put the 3D models on separate layers and freeze them but apparently the View Base command will take into account the objects on the frozen layers as well. Maybe there is another way around the problem but I'd have to do more research. Second attempt at finding a solution failed as well. It centered around working with separate drawings of each object. Trouble is one cannot copy/paste a base view type. Sorry. Edited February 26, 2013 by ReMark Quote
SLW210 Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 I would use sectionplane, solview/soldraw or solprof. Quote
ReMark Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Flatshot could be used too if you isolated your 3D models. Quote
JD Mather Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Second attempt at finding a solution failed as well. It centered around working with separate drawings of each object. Trouble is one cannot copy/paste a base view type. What about using logical sub-assemblies. Each part in one file (like real world). make viewbase of individual part files as needed for documentation Xref parts into sub-assembly file (like real world) and make the viewbase of the sub-assembly as needed. Xref sub-assemblies into main assembly file (like real world) and make viewbase of main assembly as needed. Quote
danielk Posted March 1, 2013 Author Posted March 1, 2013 Flatshot could be used too if you isolated your 3D models. i use FLATSHOT the only problem is that in some computer , the result is a pixlized image (poor quality lines) , do you know how to fix this? thanks. Quote
ReMark Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 I have used FLATSHOT countless times and have never encountered that particular problem. Can you post a copy of a drawing that exhibits the unusual behavior? Strip out anything that does not pertain specifically to the problem first. Quote
