Construction line's

You mean the edges of the solids?

You may try different options under menu item View --> Visual styles; probably Realistic is the one that you were looking for.

I put my "construction lines" on a separate layer from the solid and turn off that layer.

But I suspect your question is really about Shaded with Edges vs Shaded.

Thanks guys. yes it was shaded I was looking for, in View.

Can some one please tell me how I can get rid of the construction lines that show on a solid model so all l am left with is just solid colour.

visual styles manager>realistic>edgemode=none

gets rid of........edges
