douggiestyle Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 (edited) Hi guys, Sorry for the newb question to some, but for me this is a tricky. Im trying to dimension the midpoints of a series vertical beams thats perpendicular to the x axis. Does anyone know an effective method of how to dimension the midpoint of one beam to the midpoint of another beam? Normally i just select dimlinear and then ctl + right click "mid between 2 points", but this way just seems time consuming when you have a series of them to do, is there a better way to dimension a series of beams from one midpoint to another midpoint???? Thanks to anyone that knows a more effective method! Edited April 21, 2013 by douggiestyle rephrase Quote
Dadgad Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 I am not sure I am following you here, but have you considered just turning on your MIDPOINT osnap. That sounds like what you are looking for. Have you got a graphic representation of what it is you are trying to do? Quote
douggiestyle Posted April 21, 2013 Author Posted April 21, 2013 Oh! basically im trying to dimension the midpoints from 1 beam to another with a PLINE (the support) intersecting them. I notice that if you have a PLINE and you place perpendicular lines on it, you have to select mid between to points to get the center of the beam then do the other to the other beam, but when you have multiple beams to do, its very time consuming to get dimension them. Dadgad Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 It sounds like with MIDPOINT and perhaps EXTENSION osnaps turned on and OBJECT SNAP TRACKING turned on, that in plan view you could do that by hovering over the midpoint of the end of the beam to acquire that point. But it might be quicker still to just throw some temporary xlines on those beams, which are probably either going to be shown as horizontal or vertical on your layout, and just erase the lot after you dimension them. SLW210 Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 Do your beams have a centerline? Maybe you could post a portion of the .dwg or at least a screen shot? Quote
